How to calculate sloped area or distances using Excel
Note: As of the 12/22/12 release, you may now calculate slope or pitch inside of Cloud Takeoff without using Excel.
Sometimes you need to calculate the area or linear distance of something that is on a slope. Roofers in particular have to perform the calculation often when taking off roofing from a blueprint. Drywall or Finish contractors will often need to know the area of a sloped ceiling. Below you will find how this is done in Excel, plus you can use this spreadsheet calculator to quickly figure the sloped value from a measured value from a blueprint. Tip: Bookmark this page or link to it so you can return whenever you need to perform this calculation.
